I feel like this comic is trying to show how the world has
changed and how it continues to change over time. Huxley feared what our modern world is
becoming. We are always so preoccupied
with our own things and lives; we almost ignore all the different things going
on around us. This makes me think about
the statement, “Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us.” Will we become so preoccupied with our lives
that we will not see the things changing around us or what is happening to
us? Will we or are we easily controlled
by the things we love or are slowly becoming attached or addicted to? It honestly scares me to think about all
that.
Also I feel like Orwell focuses on what was feared before
our lives filled up with technology and such.
People were more afraid of weapons and probably other people as well and
over the years many things changed and began to fill up our time. Like someone mentioned in our class discussion
about helping others, “we do not have time.”
I feel that this is completely correct; we are always going somewhere or
doing something. For example, in the
bystander effect video, everyone was rushing past barely paying any attention
to the person in need of help. I do not
know if I personally would have helped or at least the thought of not helping
would cross my mind. But, I would feel
guilty if I did not help so, who knows I might ask what is wrong and see if I can
help in any way. Now I might keep my
distance in case there was any chance of me getting hurt.
I personally like how the article was chosen to be a web
comic. I think it was chosen because in
my opinion it makes it more interesting than just reading a plain article like
a newspaper and it might get more views.
The pictures bring some entertainment as well as helps out with the
understanding of the message being displayed.
