The music video I chose is When I'm gone by Eminem. This song has a great story about a father that messed up and just wants to make it up to his family.
By using the expression that you would give an arm for someone, he is describing how much he loves his daughter Hailie. He is willing to destroy anyone who would try to harm her or his family.
In this next scene he does not seem to show his daughter how much care he actually has for her. He shoos her away and tells her hes busy trying to write a song. He tells her to go swing by herself.
This scene is shown in the first chorus where he tells his daughter to rejoice at the sound of his voice. Also he says that he will be looking down on her smiling. He wants her to feel like he is still there with her when he is gone.
In this scene he is getting ready to leave the house again. He always says that it is the last time, but of course when someone says that it usually is not the last time.
I do not actually think Hailie piled boxes up to keep him from leaving, I think that he used this as a metaphor for her trying everything she could to make him stay.
Hailie handed him a locket and told him it will keep him safe and for him to take it with him. The locket had a picture of her in one side and her mother in the other.
In this scene he was on the stage and looked out into the crowd and saw his daughter. She was upset. She told him she wanted to give him a coin that said #1 dad. She says that he loves the crowd more than his family.
This mirror breaking scene I believe represents when he realizes how he has been acting and decides that he wants to change.
He meets up with his family and gives his lover a hug. Seeing them together and seeing him there makes his daughter Hailie smile.
In this final scene he is pushing his daughter on the swing and interacting with his family. He is reconnecting with them
